Overview

The Department of Agricultural Extension at Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (MUAST) is housed under the Faculty of Plant and Animal Science. It is dedicated to advancing agricultural practices through education, research, and community engagement. It serves as a vital link between farmers, researchers, and policymakers, facilitating the dissemination of knowledge and technologies that enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability through innovations harnessing and commercialization.



Mission:

The mission of the department is to empower educators, farmers, and rural communities by providing relevant information, skills, and resources that promote sustainable agricultural practices and improve livelihoods.



Objectives of the Department of Agricultural Extension:

  • Educational Excellence: To provide high-quality education and training programmes for students in agricultural extension, equipping them with the necessary skills for effective extension work.
  • Research and Innovation: To conduct research that addresses local agricultural challenges and fosters innovation in farming practices.
  • Community Outreach: To engage with local communities, offering support and resources that enhance agricultural productivity and food security.
  • Policy Advocacy: To advocate for policies that support sustainable agriculture and rural development.

  • Diploma in Agriculture, Chibero.

  • Msc Agricultural Economics, Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Education, Zimbabwe Open University.
